In 2010 Jon set out to find something that he hoped to find in Utah. Something that was only available in the Best Tattoo shops around the world. A Tattoo shop that offered a clean, friendly, and professional service in a relaxed atmosphere, where his clients could come to get great work and not have to break the bank or deal with an attitude, annoying blaring music, sketchy artists, or unprofessional behavior. Some of my favorite tattoo styles.

below are a few of my favorite styles. as you can see, the styles I enjoy tattooing lead me to call my private studio Ancient Marks Tattoo. For a more inclusive list of the styles that I love to tattoo, click here, to read a bit more about me.

Norse, Viking & Celtic Tattoos

Ancient Symbols. Modern Power.

If you’ve ever felt a pull toward the old gods, the seafaring strength of Viking warriors, or the intricate wisdom of Celtic knotwork, you’re in the right place. These tattoo styles are bold, rich with history, and charged with meaning—crafted for people who carry a deep connection to ancestry, spirituality, or mythology.

I specialize in blackwork Norse, Viking, and Celtic tattoos that blend traditional symbolism with artistic flow to fit the body beautifully. These tattoos aren’t just about the look—they’re about channeling the stories and spirits of the ancient world.

Norse tattoos tap into the mythology and power of the ancient Norse. Think Valknut for the fallen warrior, Mjölnir (Thor’s hammer) for protection, and the Helm of Awe for courage in battle. You’ll often find creatures like wolves, ravens, serpents, and dragons—beings that held deep meaning in Norse mythology.

Viking tattoos focus on the seafaring culture of exploration, battle, and honor. Designs may include Viking longships, axes, shields, and historic Norse runes—symbols carved into wood, bone, and stone over a thousand years ago. Each mark feels like a whisper from a forgotten age.

Celtic tattoos celebrate ancient Celtic spirituality and symbolism. Intricate knotwork flows endlessly, representing eternity and interconnectedness. Popular icons include the Triquetra, Triskelion, and the Claddagh—symbols of love, strength, and loyalty.

Whether you want a piece that honors your heritage or simply resonates with your soul, I’ll work with you to create something authentic, powerful, and personal. These styles are often done in blackwork tattooing, but we can also bring them to life in color, as the ancient tribes once painted their skin before battle.

BindRunes & Viking Age Runes

Magic in Every Mark.

Runes are more than just letters—they’re ancient Norse symbols charged with intention, power, and protection. Used by Viking and Germanic tribes, each rune carried meaning and was carved into wood, stone, and flesh to mark rites of passage, offer guidance, or summon strength.

BindRunes are custom combinations of two or more runes woven into a single symbol—like a personalized talisman tattoo. Whether you’re seeking healing, protection, courage, transformation, or your own unique spiritual sigil, we’ll design a BindRune tattoo that’s as meaningful as it is timeless.

From the Elder Futhark to Younger runes, I carefully study and honor the historical and cultural context behind every symbol. These tattoos aren’t just marks—they’re living symbols of ancient magic.

Ornamental Tattoos

Elegance in Motion. Flow That Follows the Body.

Ornamental tattoos are where artistry meets anatomy. These designs are crafted to move with your body—wrapping around curves, following lines, and enhancing the natural flow of your form. This style blends geometric patterns, mandalas, dotwork, and elements of sacred geometry, Celtic knotwork, Norse symbols, and even Polynesian tribal motifs—woven together into something fluid, beautiful, and completely custom.

Unlike other tattoo styles that are symbol-based or standalone, ornamental tattoos are designed to feel like they belong to you. They’re often used to accentuate the chest, ribs, spine, arms, or legs—anywhere the design can flow organically with your body.

Expect fine linework, symmetry, and repetition—but also storytelling. These pieces can be deeply personal, combining visual elegance with the deeper meanings of ancient patterns and symbols.

If you’re looking for something that’s both decorative and meaningful, something that wraps your story around your body like armor or lace, an ornamental tattoo might be exactly what you’re after.

Sacred Geometry & Geometric Tattoos

Structure. Balance. Beauty.

Sacred geometry tattoos are more than beautiful—they’re rooted in the belief that the universe is built from a series of divine patterns. These tattoos speak to those who find meaning in harmony, symmetry, and universal balance.

Whether it’s the Flower of Life, Metatron’s Cube, or a custom pattern built from geometric shapes, I love designing pieces that feel both meditative and powerful. These tattoos often resonate with those seeking a deeper connection to spirituality or who simply appreciate the beauty of clean, flowing symmetry.

You’ll often find this art style on bodies, walls, and even vehicles—because once you see it, you realize it’s everywhere. In your tattoo, it becomes personal, intentional, and striking.

Mandala Tattoos

The Circle that Connects All Things.

Mandala tattoos represent wholeness, the universe, and the self. These designs are mesmerizing—symmetrical, detailed, and endlessly customizable.

Whether you’re drawn to them for their spiritual meaning or simply love the balance and beauty, mandalas are one of the most versatile tattoo styles. From highly detailed mandalas that fill the back or chest to minimalist mandalas on the arm or leg, there’s no wrong way to wear one.

Many clients like to incorporate Sacred Geometry, botanical elements, animals, or spiritual icons into their design. Others experiment with color, contrast, and shading for the perfect personal look.

I create my mandalas from scratch—ensuring each one is unique and respectful, especially when inspired by traditional cultural motifs.

Polynesian Tribal Tattoos

Heritage. Strength. Spirit.

Polynesian tattoos are deeply rooted in tradition and storytelling. These are not just decorative pieces—they’re marks of identity, legacy, and life transitions.

Whether you have Polynesian heritage or feel spiritually connected to the islands and oceanic cultures, these tribal tattoos carry timeless meaning. The lines, patterns, and shapes are more than design—they’re a visual language of the soul.

Each tattoo is created with care, blending traditional elements with your personal story. Whether you want to honor your family, personal growth, or cultural roots, or simply love the bold, rhythmic aesthetic, these pieces are powerful, permanent art that move with your body and your life.

A tattoo is a true poetic creation, and is always more than meets the eye.
